The New Digital System Training Workshop – Tanzania Chamber Portal has been officially launched in Arusha, marking a significant milestone in the journey of technological transformation within the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA).
Speaking at the opening on behalf of the TCCIA President, TCCIA Arusha Chairman, Walter Maeda, said the new system will increase transparency, efficiency and speed of service delivery to the chamber’s members and business people across the country.
The four-day workshop brought together participants from Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Manyara and Tanga, where they were trained on how to use the system correctly by a team of TCCIA experts with funding from Trademark Africa (TMA).
According to TCCIA IT Officer, Florian Mihyo, the training is being conducted regionally to ensure that each region is adequately trained before the official launch. The system will enable members and all traders in general to easily access services such as registration, membership certificate, Certificate of Origin, Submission of Non-Exportable Documents for traders exporting goods, as well as an online customer service desk.
Participants have praised the move, saying it will simplify trade and reduce bureaucracy.
Ms. Frida Shedafa, Customs Officer II – TRA Namanga, Arusha region, said the system “will strengthen cooperation between public institutions and the private sector, reduce bureaucracy and increase transparency, especially in border areas like Namanga.”
These workshops will continue to be held regionally starting with the Northern Zone, then the Lake Zone, Coastal Zone, Central Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone and Southern Highlands Zone are expected to accelerate the use of technology within TCCIA and strengthen the contribution of the private sector in growing the national economy.
