TCCIA President, Vicent Minja has met with the Women with Disabilities Group and presented them with a Certificate of Membership to TCCIA.
From the workshop, the Women with Disabilities Group has requested the Government, which is beginning the second phase of the sixth term, to increase its efforts in empowering them economically, especially by providing them with barcodes to sell products locally and internationally. Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the Director of the Voice of Women with Disabilities in Tanzania, Stella Jailos, said women with disabilities still face challenges in business systems and need a more friendly environment.
TCCIA President, Vicent Minja, urged the Government to accelerate improvements in the business environment and address challenges such as long-term debt, while stressing the importance of prioritizing local companies. He said the TCCIA leadership has strengthened cooperation with the Government and stakeholders in the past two years.
TCCIA has implemented operational reforms such as filling key leadership positions, strengthening modern service systems and appointing new managers. It has also successfully lobbied for the reduction of some taxes, preventing arbitrary business closures and reducing TRA cases.
Through constitutional amendments, TCCIA now includes people with disabilities in the board leadership, a move aimed at building an inclusive chamber. TCCIA continues to support the National Development Vision 2050 and empower special groups, including women with disabilities, to fully participate in the economy.
