The Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) has commended the efforts made by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to resolve and normalize trade issues between Mozambique and Tanzania and TCCIA will continue to collaborate with the government in developing and strengthening trade relations between Tanzania and Mozambique.
The statement was made today in Dar es Salaam by the Executive Director of TCCIA, Mr. Oscar Kissanga, speaking at the Tanzania-Mozambique Business Forum held at the Rotana Hotel, Dar es Salaam.
The Director stressed the importance of developing trade cooperation between the two countries, also explaining the great efforts being made by the Government of Tanzania under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, in improving the business environment and attracting investment.
He praised the growth of trade between Tanzania and Mozambique, explaining that according to the 2023 Bank of Tanzania report, in 2022 Tanzania sold goods worth USD 51.3 million to Mozambique, while goods imported from Mozambique reached USD 49.8 million. These figures show a good trade balance and the existence of more opportunities for economic cooperation.
Furthermore, when Kissanga introduced Hon. Prof. Kitila Alexander Mkumbo (MB), Minister of State, President’s Office, Planning and Investment of Tanzania, for his significant contribution in making the conference a success and demonstrating strong leadership in promoting investment in the country. He also commended Hon. Basilio Zefanias Muhate, Minister of Economy of Mozambique, for his efforts in strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
