Minister Kombo Inaugurates TCCIA’s Special General Meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has launched the General Meeting of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) in Dar es Salaam, where he has emphasized the importance of the institution being the main engine of strengthening economic diplomacy in the country.

Hon. Kombo has said despite its great contribution in business growth, TCCIA has lost important international opportunities, therefore it is high time for the institution to reorganize itself to become a strong bridge between the private sector and the government by attracting investments, creating international cooperation, promoting the markets of goods abroad. and to encourage the use of modern technologies

Also, Hon. Kombo has called on TCCIA to be an advisor to the Government in promoting international businesses, leading business trips abroad, and providing accurate information on international markets. He stressed that the Ministry will continue to collaborate closely with the TCCIA through the economic diplomacy platform to connect it with international trade and investment platforms.

Likewise, he has congratulated TCCIA for the step to amend its Constitution and called on its leaders to strengthen the position of the institution in the performance of economic diplomacy, noting that the private sector is the main engine of achieving the National Compass for Development 2050.
Minister Kombo has promised that the Ministry will continue to cooperate with TCCIA in implementing strategies to grow the economy using economic diplomacy and finally officially opened the TCCIA National General Meeting.

On his part, the president of TCCIA, Mr. Vicent Minja, has said that the meeting, among other things, went through and amended the constitution of the chamber, to make it fit with the needs and changes of the present.

Mr. Minja has added that the process aims to ensure broad and inclusive participation, especially for the youth, women and people with disabilities, in various leadership positions within TCCIA.
