Dar es Salaam, September 9, 2024 – The President of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (TCCIA), Mr. Vincent Minja, led discussions between TCCIA and the Ukrainian Ambassador Resident in Kenya, serving the Great Lakes Region, H.E. Ambassador Pravednyk Andrii. The talks, held at TCCIA’s Headquarters in Dar es Salaam, focused on enhancing trade cooperation between the business chambers of Tanzania and Ukraine.

The discussions centered around potential collaboration in the agriculture sector, particularly in wheat and sunflower production, areas where Ukraine has achieved significant success. Ambassador Andrii also expressed Ukraine’s interest in partnering with TCCIA to promote industrial development, technology, and digital systems, highlighting opportunities for mutual growth.

In his remarks, Mr. Minja stated, “Given the broad spectrum of cooperation we have identified, it’s clear we need to start somewhere. On behalf of the business community and TCCIA members, we welcome the exchange of opportunities and experiences to advance trade relations.” He further emphasized that the office of the TCCIA Executive Director is ready to facilitate this partnership for the benefit of businesses from both countries.

The meeting was also attended by TCCIA’s Vice President for Industry, Mr. Abdul Mwilima, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oscar Kissanga, both of whom echoed the importance of strengthening industrial and trade cooperation between Tanzania and Ukraine. They stressed that such collaborations are crucial for driving industrial growth and economic development in both nations.

This meeting is expected to lay the groundwork for a long-term partnership between Tanzania and Ukraine, especially in key sectors such as agriculture, technology, and industry. The exchange of knowledge, expertise, and resources will contribute to the growth of the private sector in Tanzania while opening doors for Ukrainian businesses to explore new markets in East Africa.

TCCIA’s engagement with Ukraine signifies its commitment to broadening international business relations and leveraging global partnerships to boost Tanzania’s economic progress.
