Kigoma Business Community Urged to Leverage Business Councils for New Opportunities

Kigoma, July 31, 2024

The business community in Kigoma has been encouraged to capitalize on the presence of business councils not merely as platforms for resolving conflicts but as opportunities to develop and explore new business prospects. This call to action was made by Kigoma Regional Commissioner, Hon. Thobias Andengenye, during the opening of the Kigoma Regional Business Council meeting held at the Lake Tanganyika Hotel in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality.

In his address, Commissioner Andengenye underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing the investment environment in Kigoma. This effort aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision to transform the region into a commercial hub for the Western Zone. He urged local entrepreneurs to collaborate with the government in devising and implementing strategies that will stimulate economic and business growth.

“It is crucial for businesses to understand that these councils are not solely for resolving disputes but are platforms for crafting new development strategies,” emphasized Commissioner Andengenye. “Our goal is to make Kigoma a central business hub in the Western Zone, and this is achievable if we work together to strengthen the business and investment climate.”

The Regional Commissioner highlighted the significant role of business councils in driving positive changes through the promotion of new opportunities and fostering business cooperation both within and beyond the region.

In response, the Chairman of TCCIA Kigoma, Mr. Obadia Elimeli Kabuga, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and collaborative spirit. He assured that the council would work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that business opportunities are recognized and effectively utilized for the region’s development and the benefit of its residents.

The meeting also focused on various strategies to improve the business environment and uncover new investment opportunities, aiming to boost Kigoma’s economy and bring sustainable progress to its inhabitants. This collaborative approach between the TCCIA and regional government illustrates a strong commitment to fostering economic development and harnessing the full potential of Kigoma’s business landscape.
